Elaine Noetzel
April 17th, 1922 to March 23rd, 2011
Elaine G. Noetzel died on March 23, 2011 at Medilodge of Port Huron surrounded by her family. She was born in Bad Axe, Michigan, on April 17, 1922 to Louis and Georgina Chapdelaine. She graduated from St. Stephen High School in 1940 and then served in the US Navy Wave Program in WWII. Elaine married Thomas C. Noetzel on November 9, 1946 after they both returned from the service. She loved playing the piano, knitting, and sewing for children and grandchildren. She enjoyed her friends and swimming at the YMCA for over 45 years. Elaine will also be remembered for her devotion to the Catholic Church.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 64 years, Thomas Noetzel; eight children, Thomas Jr (Debbie) of Fort Gratiot; Mary (Bernie) Selting of Anacortes, WA; Christine Noetzel (Alan VanderGraaff) of Lexington; Paul (Nancy) of Wolverine; Roxanne (Ken) Kowalski of St. Clair Shores; Annette (Jeff) Kremer of Snowmass, CO; Susan (Jim Sneddon) Noetzel of Port Huron; Mark (Liz) of Kamuela, Hawaii; 17 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Joanne Chapdelaine of Lapeer and a sister-in-law, Sira Chapdelaine, of Tampa, FL, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Interment of her cremated remains will follow in the Allied Veterans Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 6-9 p.m. Friday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Friday.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Elaines memory to the American Red Cross and the Alzheimer's Association.
