Mary Beth Steinborn
February 24th, 1952 to April 3rd, 2011
Mary Beth Steinborn, 59, of Port Isabel, Texas died peacefully in her sleep after a brief illness. She was born in Port Huron on February 24 th , 1952.
Mary Beth graduated from Port Huron Catholic High School and received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Education from Central Michigan University. She received her Masters degree in Special Education from Michigan State University. She taught briefly at St. Josephs elementary school before moving to Port Isabel, Texas where she taught Special Education for over 27 years, working with handicapped children, building an excellent reputation as a teacher and mentor.
She is survived by her mother, Pauline Steinborn, brothers, Mark, Paul (Lisa), John (Melissa) and sisters, JoAnn (Chris) Edick, Stacie Frabis and Sally (Colleen Spiers) and many nieces and nephews, and her special friend, Charles Rowan. She is also survived by her Aunt Virginia (Ted) Harvey and many cousins.
She is preceded in death by her father, John J. Steinborn, Uncle Joe Zotter and Aunt Stephanie Zotter Hoffman, Aunt Marion Steinborn and Aunt Elizabeth Bodley.
Mary Beth was truly a kind and caring person, and although we will miss her, heaven will be a much brighter place with her in it. After all, when you lose someone you love, you gain an angel that you know.
A Mass of Resurrection will be held 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Steinborn, Paul Steinborn, John Steinborn, Mike Frabis, Theodore Harvey and Chris Edick.
Visiting hours are 2-5 p.m. Thursday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the service time Friday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Josephs church.
