Stephen A. Gilbert
April 27th, 1951 to April 10th, 2011
Fort Gratiot- Stephen A. Gilberts life was taken unexpectedly on April 10 th , 2011. He was born on April 27 th , 1957 in Port Huron to William and Lois Gilbert. He worked for UPS for 27 years.
He is survived by his wife Pam Gilbert, daughters Nicole (Tony) Jacobs, Alexa (Craig Walker). Two grandchildren: Mia and Jaden Jacobs. Brothers : Rex Gilbert & Tom (Marian) Perry. Sisters Fran (Rick) Eckard, Martha Perry & Patti (Gary) Scheffler. Sister in law: Marji Kolar, Brother in law Dennis (Sally) Kolar. Nieces & Nephews Naomi (Chris) Bongorno, Steve & Kevin Sikes Gilbert, Martha & John Perry, Mark Ross, Matt & Katie Eckard, Brie (Marc) Lowry, Kyle Davis, Joshua Gordon, Kate Kolar, Rachel & Ellie Kolar. Great Nieces & Nephews: Nora, Elsie, Alice, & Jaxen. His beloved dog Jake. Any many dear friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Lois Gilbert, and dear friend Pat Schweidler.
Steve will be extremely missed by the numerous lives that he had touched. He was a wonderful husband, father and friend. He was a great man with a heart of gold, also with a great wicked sense of humor and loved to laugh and make jokes. Excellent chef and loved to cook and feed everyone. Anyone who knew our family knew they were always welcome to eat at Gills Grille at anytime. Steve started the The Lakers soccer club for girls in 1993 and has since turned into a large organization for both boys and girls. He was a man of many words and great advice and would listen to anyone. He was the best papa to his two grandbabies. They were his babies. Heaven is one lucky place to have a man like him show up on their doorstep.
A Memorial Visitation will will be from 2-4 & 5-7 pm Saturday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Gilbert Family to set up a foundation to help less fortunate children purchase soccer equipment.
