Alice L. Kerna

Alice L. Kerna, 86, of Henderson, NV formerly of Port Huron, died April 13, 2011.
She was born February 4, 1925 in Lake Linden, Michigan.
She married Peter Kerna on December 9, 1961 in Detroit.
Alice graduated from Lake Linden High School and Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing. She received her B.S. in nursing from Wayne State University and her Master's Degree in Public Health Administration from the University of Michigan. She practiced nursing at Henry Ford Hospital and went into public health in 1955 for the Macomb County Health Department. Alice came to St. Clair County as director of Nursing for the St. Clair County Health Department and was here until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and life member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association.
She is survived by her husband Peter Kerna of Henderson, NV; sister, Anna Miller of Lake Linden, MI and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 11am Thursday in St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Pastor Gordon Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Cemetery, Troy.
Visiting hours are 10am to 5pm Wednesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10am until service time Thursday at the church.
Memorials in memory of Alice may be given to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
