Robert D. Falk, 89, of Port Huron, died May 10, 2011 one day before his 90 th birthday.
He was born May 11, 1921 in Port Huron son of the late Andrew and Wilhelmina (Schmidt) Falk.
Bob married Jane Thornton. She preceded him in death on June 12, 1997.
He was a graduate of Port Huron High School, Yale University and attended General Motors Tech Center. He served in the U.S. Air Force during WW II. Bob and his father owned and operated Andy Falk & Son Motors for many years. He was a member of Port Huron Golf Club, Noon Optimist and the YMCA. He enjoyed skiing, playing hand ball and walking his dog and visiting with neighbors. Bob loved nature and being in the woods.
He is survived by his son, Paul (Valerie) Falk of Bradenton, FL; son, Robert A. Bobby Falk of Sarasota, FL, daughter, Andrea (Dennis) Gaerke of Waterford Township; son, Dan (Anne) Falk of Fort Gratiot; son, Jeffery (Jill) Falk of Austin, TX; son, Joseph (Nancy) Falk of Port Huron; grandchildren, Andrew, Andrea, Charlie, Trevor, Daniel, Juliana, Gabrielle and Isaac; great-grandchildren, Mackenna, Isiah and Alexandria;sister, Ruth (Jim) Weis of Port Huron and special friend, Virginia Sheldon.
He was preceded in death by his faithful companion, Rudy the dog..
Funeral services will be 11am Monday in Our Saviour Lutheran Church. The Rev. Donald R. Doerzbacher will officiate. Burial will follow in Lakeside Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 6-8 pm Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10am Monday at the church.
Pallbearers will be his sons and son-in-law. Honorary pallbearers will be George Mosher, Guy Provost, Danny Falk, Trevor Falk, Jim Kelly and Salvador Guizar.
Memorials may be given to Sanborn Gratiot Memorial Home or Our Saviour Lutheran Church.
