Sarah Bales

Sarah Jane Augusta Bales, 73, went home to be with the Lord on May 21, 2011.
Sarah was born in Peoria, Illinois in July 1937 to Charles and Iola Calvert.
Port Huron has been Sarah's home for the past 29 years. Sarah was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 796 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing bingo, computer games, spending time with family and friends and singing karaoke.
She is survived by her brother Norman (Linny) Calvert of Cypress, Texas, daughters Valerie (Fred) O'Connor and Kimberly (Tim) Mattox, both of Port Huron, son, Allen (Cindy) Thomas of Texas, grandchildren Christa (Chris) Cohee of Grand Rapids, Mark O'Connor and Nicole Theeuwes both of Port Huron, Steven O'Connor of East Lansing, Robin (Norman) Shaw of North Carolina, Justin Mattox of Port Huron, Austin and Bailey Thomas of Texas and James Hammond, and her great grandchildren Nick and Nathan Cohee, Mike Gibson, Anthony and Jonathan Theeuwes and Madison Alyssa Shaw who is due June 26 th , 2011.
Sarah is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Iola Calvert, brothers, Wayne and Erwin Calvert and sister, Barbara Jean Calvert.
Visitation will be from 5pm-9pm Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A carnation presentation will be held at 7pm Monday by the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.
Funeral services officiated by Elder Gary Wesch will be held 11am Tuesday in the funeral home.
