William F. Gaffney

William F. Gaffney, 89, of Kimball, died Thursday, May 12, 2011 in his home following a long illness.
He was born December 12, 1921 on the family farm in Smiths Creek and has been a lifelong area resident.
Bill married the love of his life, Romilda C. Bloink on January 26, 1946 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on October 10, 1998.
He served in the US Army during WWII in the Pacific and was a member of VFW May-O'Brien Post #8465. Bill retired from Chrysler Corporation in Marysville after 33 years of employment.. He loved baseball, fishing, camping and was an avid gardener.
He is survived by his son, William J. Gaffney of Kimball; daughter, Janet (David Massey) Thomas of Port Huron; daughter, Connie (David) Nicholson of Port Huron; daughter, Kathy (Dennis) Jahn of Croswell; son, Thomas (Karen) Gaffney of Fort Gratiot; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 1 great- great granddaughter; sister, Carolyn (Harry) Soulliere of Lexington; four sisters-in-law, Lucille, Evie, Clara, Kate and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers Jim, Fred and Bob.
Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph Gagnon will officiate. Burial will be in Caswell Cemetery with military honors under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 pm Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9am Tuesday at the church. A scripture service will be held at 7:30 pm Monday evening.
Memorials may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
