Marie C. Benedict, 87, of Port Huron, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 in Port Huron Hospital following a long illness.

She was born September 13, 1923 in Port Huron and was a life long area resident.

Marie married David L. Benedict on May 21, 1951 in St. Stephen Catholic Church.

She was a graduate of St. Stephen High School and served in the U.S. Navy Waves during WWII based in Coronado, CA. She was very proud to be 100% Italian and was a devoted wife and Catholic. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling- especially to Palm Springs, California, Mexico and Europe. She was continually thankful for her many blessings and always saw the good in others. She was a Mom to many... and you know who you are. She especially enjoyed helping others who were less fortunate. She was tremendously proud of her two children, Cindy and Mike, and did everything to ensure their success in life. She loved to party with her children and their friends, and was always ready to “go” and have a good time. She remained forever young her entire life.

This photo was taken at a sidewalk cafe in Venice, Italy. She travel there “on her own” as part of a lifetime dream trip to Austria, where her favorite movie, the Sound of Music was filmed.
