Thomas H. Tanton, Jr.
March 8th, 1932 to September 17th, 2011
Thomas H. Tanton, Jr. age 79, of Port Huron entered the reunions of all reunions on Saturday, September 17, 2011 in his home following a long illness.
He was born March 8, 1932 in Port Huron, son of the late Thomas H. and Anna E. (Osentoski) Tanton.
Thomas married Kathryn J. Walli on October 23, 1955 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2011.
Thomas attended the Port Huron area School District and was an avid MSU fan. He worked in produce for many years before Frito Lay from where he retired. He was past Exalted Ruler of B.P.O.E #343 and was a member of L.O.O.M #158. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, going to the Windchill Donut Shop on 24th Street and Sunday dinners with his family. But most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey (Carol) Tanton of Port Huron; son, Doug Tanton of Virginia; daughter, Sue Laseck (Ron Kildow) of Alpena, MI; daughter, Diana (Carl) McCue of Goodells; son, Jimbo (Katie) Tanton of Port Huron; daughter, Rose (Jim) Ichenberg of Jeddo; daughter, Laura (Greg) Hisscock of Port Huron; son ,Terry (Tamela) Tanton of Chesterfield; daughter Nancy (Bruce) Buckley of Houston, TX; daughter, Donna (Mike) Lapka of Port Huron, daughter, Leanne Tanton of Port Huron; 21 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Sister, Beverly Stein of Port Huron; brothers, Buck Tanton of Marysville and James and Edwin Tanton of Port Huron.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Carol Christine Tanton; brothers Leroy, Don and Richard Tanton; sisters, Kaye Tanton, Doris Heacock and Jean Quader.
Mass of Resurrection will be 10am Thursday in St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Catholic Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 pm Tuesday and Wednesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9am Thursday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7pm on Wednesday evening.
Pallbearers will be, Christopher Laseck, Chad Tanton, Rodney Tanton, Zachary Tanton, Brandon Baker and Garrett Ichenberg, Daniel Solomon, Adam Solomon, Paul Jacobs and Ryan Vanbuskirk. Honorary Pallbearers will be Richard Tanton, Randall Tanton, Nicholas Buckley, Jason Buckley, Brett Buckley and Rachel Tanton.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to Holy Trinity Parish.
