Marie J Ulseth

Marie J. Ulseth, 94, of Marysville, died Wednesday, January 6, 2021.

She was born on May 3, 1926 in Detroit to the late Otto and Vina May Jennings. In 1945, at the age of 19, Marie married Dale Mickens, a young pilot who later died while serving in the war. After the war, Marie met Elmer J. Ulseth at a local skating rink and they were happily married on June 6, 1947.

Together, Marie and Elmer raised three girls, Karlene Jean (Larry) Olson, Verna Marie (Frank) Jasieniecki and Janice Carol (David) Whipple. She adored her five grandchildren, Alissa, Meredith, Kyle, Daniel and AnnMarie and was similarly thrilled to welcome eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Verna Marie Jasieniecki.

She dressed all of her girls, grandchildren and great grandchildren in beautiful handmade dresses, knit and crocheted sweaters, hats and gloves and she loved to share her handmade treasures at local craft shows. If you were a lucky recipient of one of Marie’s handmade afghans, wrap up and receive a warm hug from her…she sends her love.

Elmer and Marie shared 73 wonderful years together, cruising the Great Lakes on their boat, road tripping to Vegas, and, more recently, enjoying casino trips around the state with busloads of wonderful friends.

A beautiful life, well lived, full of love and family joys.
