Obituary

Elizabeth L. “Betty” Devereaux, 82, of Port Huron, died peacefully on Saturday, July 9, 2022.

She was born June 7, 1940 in Columbus Township to the late Stanley and Hedwig Zacharias. She married Patrick J. Devereaux on July 3, 1965 in St. Mary Catholic Church, St. Clair.

Betty was a 1958 graduate of St. Clair High School. She was employed as an instructional assistant for the Port Huron Area School District for 15 years, retiring in 2000. She was a member of Holy Trinity Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was in the choir for many years. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and also her cats.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Patrick; son, Patrick (Karen) Devereaux Jr.; daughter, Anna (Danny) Kiel; three grandchildren, Zachary Kiel, McKenna Kiel and Tyler McAmmond; two sisters, Helen Wrona and Lorraine Garvey; and brother, John (Ruth) Zacharias. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sally Prior and Irene Zacharias; and five brothers, Leo, Ralph, Stanley, Richard and Daniel Zacharias.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2022 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 14, 2022 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Joseph Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
