William Zgieb
William Michael Albert Zgieb, 71, of Port Huron, died Monday, September 5, 2022, with his family by his side, after a long battle with cancer.
He was born May 4, 1951 in Chicago, IL. Bill served as a sergeant in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1968-1972. He worked as a master electrician for many years. He loved spending time with his daughter, Lindsey and her family, going to the casino with his mother Dolly, watching football, and making jokes and laughing. He especially enjoyed traveling to New Orleans and Las Vegas. Bill was also a past member of the Port Huron Elks Lodge, VFW and Eagles club.
He is survived by his children, Lindsey (Steve) McKinstry, Lacie Zgieb and Joshua Zgieb; grandchildren, Alexis McKinstry, Hannah McKinstry, Colton McKinstry and Ava Zgieb; aunts, Shirley Rediker and Veronica Stulgis; one niece and two nephews; good friends, Denise Marth and Darcie Kreiner; and the many staff members at Regency on the Lake that he became close with. He was preceded in death by his parents, Iona C. “Dolly” and Donald J. Zgieb; sons, William Zgieb Jr. and Nicholas Zgieb; and brothers, Donald Zgieb Jr. and George Zgieb.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Port Huron. Deacon Dennis Crimmins will officiate. Military honors will be under the auspices of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
