Sally M Stevens

December 14th, 1928 to September 14th, 2022

Sally M. Stevens, 93 years old, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2022.

She was born December 14, 1928, the seventh of eight children in the Wilbur and Mary McFarlane family and was a lifelong resident of Port Huron, except for a short stint in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Sally was part of an extended and loving family, and adored her husband, Robert Stevens. They married on May 15, 1948 and were together until his passing in 2009.

As a kid Sally was fond of playing softball, and performing circus acts in an abandoned dairy down the street from her home on Hancock Street. She was a lifelong fan of music in general, and ’50-‘60s era country western in particular. She was also a fan of Broadway musicals, which she and Bob attended regularly in New York City during their time in New Jersey. And of course, she would catch her Detroit Tigers on TV whenever possible.

Sally was devoted to her family. Sunday dinners, helping to raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her the greatest joy!

Sally worked for a time at Chrysler Corporation in Marysville, and she was well known in the community for her many years as a cashier at Jack Smith’s Market, from which she retired in 1975. She was a longtime parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

She is survived by her children, Carol (Al) Sturdevant, Mark (Pam Basone) Stevens, Lori Ann (Fred) Webb and Lynn Stevens; grandchildren, Jack (Krista) Hillis, Lee Hillis (Warren) Doss, Danial (Lauren) Hillis, Alessandra Stevens, Andrea (Todd) Hess, Jordan (fiancé Christina Zbikowski) Webb, Nick Kovacs (Emily Ashley) and Robert W. Miller; 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Bob, Sally was preceded in death by her siblings, Kenneth McFarlane, Marge Sheffer, Gene McFarlane, Bernard McFarlane, Betty Meyer, Peggy Friedland and Shirley Fowler.
