Millard W. H. Becker Jr

Millard William Herman Becker Jr., 88, of Fort Gratiot, Michigan went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 8, 2023.

He was born June 25, 1934 in Detroit to the late Millard and Esther Becker. He married Dianne Danhauser on August 17, 1991 in Port Huron.

Millard graduated from Lutheran High in 1952. He went to Valparaiso University, graduating with a Master’s in Business Administration in 1956. He furthered his education at Valparaiso’s Law School and graduated with a second Master’s in Law in 1958. Millard began his career working in the legal department for AAA Insurance Company and later became a partner at Garan, Lucow, Miller, Seward, Cooper, Becker Law Firm in Detroit. He opened the law firm’s new office in Port Huron, Michigan.

Millard then retired after 35 years of a very successful law career to golf, play tennis, snow ski, windsurf, sail and kayak. He was full of life and enjoyed sports. He sang in Faith Lutheran’s choir and looked forward to church and bible school every Sunday. Anyone who met him always recognized him by his deep, unforgettable “disc jockey” voice.

He was a dedicated father who enjoyed spending his weekends teaching his children how to golf, play tennis, sail and snow ski. He had the biggest heart and was a loving, devoted husband to his wife of 31 years. In his retirement they traveled to Aruba, Bonaire, Venezuela and South Padre Island and Texas, chasing the wind to windsurf. Millard was kind, charismatic and loved to dance. He touched the lives of many with his strong faith and generosity.

He is survived by his wife, Dianne L. Becker; sons, Matthew Becker, Paul Becker and Craig Swedberg; stepdaughter, Rebecca (Brian) Rowbotham; granddaughter, Karley; brother, Donald Becker and his two children, Steven and Tracey Becker, and their children, Devin and Kelly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Esther Laura Pohl and Millard William Becker; and his stepson, Richard L. Price.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Faith Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Mark Huff will officiate.

Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron.
