Marilyn J Hill

June 9th, 1938 to May 20th, 2023

Marilyn Jessie Hill, 84, of Burtchville Township, passed away peacefully at her home in the early morning hours on Saturday, May 20, 2023.

She was born June 9, 1938 in Ewing, Nebraska to the late George Irwin and Lorena Mae Friday. She grew up in Lakeport and Plymouth, Michigan, graduating from Plymouth High School in 1956. Marilyn married Jesse Tyler Hill in Port Huron, Michigan. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary before he preceded her in death in 2012.

Marilyn worked at Port Huron Hospital for many years before retiring in 1995. She gave often to the Humane Society of St. Clair County and many cats over the years were lucky to have her as their owner. She enjoyed reading, knitting and cross stitching. Marilyn and Jesse were avid boaters and often took trips north to Mackinac Island or to Bayfield, Ontario. In their later years they enjoyed traveling with their fifth wheel camper where they wintered in Florida and made many friends from all over the U.S. and Canada.

She loved Willy Nelson, Dairy Queen chocolate shakes, Burger King Whopper Juniors, going out for lunch or dinner, fresh corn on the cob and tomatoes, and all the birds and hummingbirds that got plenty of free meals in her yard. Her pies of all sorts are legendary, but her strawberry rhubarb pie will never be surpassed. She will be greatly missed for her understated and sly sense of humor and for the great amounts of love she showed her friends and family.

Marilyn is survived by her two children, Marrill Dee Bennett and David Tyler Hill; her three grandchildren, Jessica Bennett McKelvey (Tim), Jonathan (Olivia) Bennett and Samuel Bennett; and three great grandsons; Skyler, Jericho and Krispin McKelvey.

A memorial event will be held at a later date.
