Carmen Guizar

October 20th, 1925 to February 20th, 2024

Carmen “Nan” Guizar, 98, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully into the Lord's hands, comforted by her son Alan who watched her take her last breath at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, and the extremely competent and compassionate care of Jennifer from the staff of Sanborn Gratiot Memorial Home.

She was born October 20, 1925 in Clairton, Pennsylvania to the late Trinidad and Carmen Martinez. Carmen "Nan" married her devoted and loving husband, Salvador "Peanuts" Guizar on September 8, 1949 in Port Huron, Michigan. The inseparable couple stood the test of time, a World War and building a successful business while celebrating 72 years of marriage. The marriage of Carmen and Salvador was truly special. Their love was obvious when they would sit together and Sal would gently caress her head and neck the whole evening.

For Carmen, her husband, children, and family were most important along with her faith as the binding strength. Carmen enjoyed travel on a world scale, visiting South Africa, Europe, the Far East and all over the Americas. Carmen had a love for animals, especially Labradors as her son Alan breeds pure-bred Labradors like her Lab Lucy, walking the shoreline where ever she had the opportunity and picking up stone mementos to remember the moments She enjoyed manicuring her yard, working in her vegetable garden and picking up sticks from the trees that she planted over 70 years ago. Carmen was fond of Tai Chi and could still touch her toes at 98 years old.

Carmen is survived by her son, Alan James Guizar; numerous nieces, nephews and more than 250 grand nieces and nephews, that each hold a special place in their heart for their favorite aunt. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Salvador; and her much loved daughter, Marta Lynne.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.

A Tridentine Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 in St. Edward on the Lake Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate.

Her family would like to acknowledge and thank all of their wonderful neighbors and acquaintances that kindly befriended them over the decades.
