James L May II

James Louis May II, 65, of Fort Gratiot, died Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

He was born December 17, 1958 in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Laura and James May I. He married Laurel Gibson on May 20, 1978 in St. Mary Queen of Creation, New Baltimore, Michigan.

James worked in corporate sales and technical support for Ontario Die International for 42 years. He was a member of the Lost Lake Woods Club, Second Amendment Foundation and the National Rifle Association. He taught hockey school in Canada and coached in three countries. James enjoyed traveling, having been to 52 countries and five continents.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Laurel; children, Shannon Spina, James (Jennifer) May III and Sara (Jason) Preston; seven grandchildren, Alexander Spina, Justin Spina, James May IV, Riley Preston, Jacob May, Josephine Preston and Jonathan Preston; siblings, William (Kathy) May, Deborah May, Susan (Tim) Moffit and Robert (Kathy) May; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 in St. Mary Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Michigan.
