Patrick A Conlen

Patrick Arthur Conlen, 87, of Pinckney, Michigan, formerly of Port Huron, passed into the loving arms of our Lord, surrounded by family on Saturday, June 29, 2024, after a valiant battle with multiple health issues.

He was born August 30, 1936 in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Arthur and Nora (Ryan) Conlen.

Pat graduated from St. Stephen Catholic High School in 1954 and later attended Port Huron Junior College. He served as an altar boy and boy scout and excelled in sports, including baseball, basketball, football, track and tennis. The majority of Pat’s career was spent with Mueller Brass, where he reached international status leading their Sales team. Pat loved a good round of golf, and enjoyed sport-fishing; his prize catch being a Blue Marlin in Cabo San Lucas!

He treasured family and friends above all else. At gatherings with the extended family Pat could usually be found playing baseball, croquet or jarts outside, surrounded by the children. He remained an avid sports fan his entire life. Reminiscing with friends and family, up until his final hours, brought Pat great joy. He never ceased to amaze others with his stellar recall of names, dates and details.

Pat was a proud and attentive grandfather. He enjoyed attending dance recitals, Irish feiseanna, musicals and plays, track meets, baseball, football, basketball and soccer games, even when it meant flying from Michigan to the East Coast!

Pat was an eternal optimist and continued to thrive regardless of circumstance. He took pride in truly getting to know other people and putting them at ease. While living at Magnolia by the Lakes, he was named the senior community winner in 2023 for his “supportive and joyful outlook” by the Cheerful and Gracious Club. In other words, his Irish eyes kept smiling, and his Irish charm did not fade in later years.

Pat is survived by his loving wife, Jane Griffel Conlen; his children, Patrick (Lynn) Conlen, Cynthia (Aidis) Kozica, Carrie (Paul) Manz and Lisa McGuffin (John Scriver); beloved grandchildren, Molly (Brent) Fulks, Matthew Conlen, Vincas Kozica, Viktoras Kozica, Reilly and Christine Manz, Nora Manz, Patrick McGuffin and Grace McGuffin; six great grandchildren; his baby sister, Jean (Dave Andrews); and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Rutha Conlen-Griffin; sisters, Beverly (Robert) Gall and Barbara (Clayton) Otis; an infant granddaughter, Jordan Marie McGuffin; and son-in-law, Michael J. McGuffin.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate. A luncheon will immediately follow.

A private interment ceremony will be held at a later date.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Holy Trinity Parish, the American Diabetes Association, or a charity of your choice.
