Louis J Carufel

Louis J. Carufel, 70, of Burtchville Township, took his final lap around the track, stopped at the pearly gates, took a big breath and smiled as he walked on his own two feet to his heavenly home on Friday, July 12, 2024.

He was born October 7, 1953 in Muskegon to Charlotte and the late Louis D. Carufel and was a 1972 graduate of Marysville High School. Louie married Renee Warner on his birthday, October 7, 2017 in Burtchville Township.

Louie was proud of the hard work he put into his business, Timberline Construction over the past 40 years. His other passion in life was dirt track and sprint car racing. He loved spending time up north at the cabin and especially enjoyed fishing and going on rides to look for bears. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Renee; son, Jake (Autumn) Carufel; mother, Charlotte Carufel; two brothers, Paul (Julie) Carufel and Mark (Pamela) Carufel; three sisters, Corinne (Gary) Wellman, Marjorie Battaglia and Marie (Paul) Zeman; two step-daughters, Andrea (Don) Frohm, and Nicole Zweng; grandchildren, Marissa Fitchett, Piper Frohm, Knox, Raleigh and Allie Zweng; close friend, Doug McRoberts; and many nieces and nephews. He will also be greatly missed by his little dog, Bubbie. In addition to his father, Louis was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Anthony Battaglia.

Louie would have wanted those attending his services to come dressed comfortably. If you have any Timberline Tree Service or Timberline Racing clothing, wearing it would have especially pleased him.

Visitation will be 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home with a time of sharing at 7:00 p.m.

Mr. Carufel will lie in state from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 19, 2024 in Holy Trinity Parish St. Stephen Catholic Church. Reverend Bradley Forintos will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mark Carufel, Paul Carufel, Don Frohm, Doug McRoberts, Jake Carufel and Edwin Manninen.

Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery, Clyde Township.
