December 29th, 1942 to July 22nd, 2024
Obituary

Jean Ann Clark, 81, of Port Huron, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2024, surrounded by numerous family members and friends who gathered at her bedside.

She was born December 29, 1942 in Bad Axe, Michigan, but resided most of her life in Port Huron where she guided the growth of three generations of her family.

Jean was a positive force in the lives of so many friends and family members. Her ability to connect with a wide variety of personalities drew many to her. Jean’s unique ability to blend kindness, patience, sincerity, and unabashed honesty was appreciated by all who loved her.

A graduate of St. Stephen High School in Port Huron, Jean later earned her associate degree from St. Clair County Community College and enjoyed a 28-year supervisory career at Port Huron Hospital/ McLaren Hospital-Port Huron. Jean was a vigorously hard worker who took great pride in her job and her relationships with co-workers.

A woman of great faith, Jean loved to fawn over her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, providing love, support and guidance for each new generation. She cherished the holidays and the drawing together of family. Her love for her family and friends was as abundant as the meals she prepared for them. Jean’s holiday specialty was baking coffee cakes by the dozens for distribution to friends, family and, quite often, complete strangers.

Jean was the loving daughter of Marion and Clemens A. Dangel, who both preceded her in death. Jean was married to Donald East in 1960 and later married Norman Clark in 1968. Both preceded her in death.

She is survived by her three sons, Jeffrey Donald East (Renee) of Farmington Hills, Michael Scott East (Deanna) of East Lansing, and Troy David Clark (Mary) of Port Huron; seven grandchildren, Conor and Aubrey East, Brady Lehman (Brittany Cole), Haley Lozano (Terry Lozano), Jordyn Clark (Corey Lynch), Cameron Clark and Kayla Walker; two great-grandchildren, Henry Lozano and Ellie Jean Lozano; a sister, Joanne Kimball (Kenny) of Phoenix, Arizona; and two nephews, Mark Stebbings (Kristen) and Brian Stebbings.

Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, 1720 Elk Street in Port Huron.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 in St. Mary Catholic Church, 1505 Ballentine St., Port Huron, where Jean was a longtime member, with visitation beginning at 10:30 a.m. The Reverend Lee Acervo will officiate. A luncheon will follow at the church directly after the service.

Jean had many close friends and belonged to a lunch group whose members she enjoyed meeting regularly for meals and lively conversation. Jean’s family would like to acknowledge Mary Gosger, Kathy Pietrowski and the late Joan Rossi for their exceptionally close friendships with Jean over the years. The family would also like to thank the medical staff at McLaren Hospital-Port Huron for their dedication, compassion, and support during her stay, especially Dr. Sivateja Mandava, whose wonderful bedside manner put Jean at ease during her final weeks.
