Margaret A. Klaus, 71, died Monday, April 9, 2012 in her home following a short illness.
She was born January 28, 1941 in Fort Gratiot and was a lifelong area resident. She married Richard A. Klaus on July 23, 1960 in Port Huron.
Margaret was a 1959 graduate of Port Huron High School. She was a former employee of Mary Maxim. She enjoyed working in her yard, gardening, baking and cake making. She loved caring for her grandchildren and spending time during the holidays with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Richard A. Klaus of Fort Gratiot; son, Richard H. Klaus of Fort Gratiot; daughter Debra A. (Jeffrey) Cornwell of Richmond; grandchildren, Leigh and Joseph Cornwell; sister, H. Lorraine Payne of Warren and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Hazel Glyshaw and her brothers, Lyle, Robert and William Glyshaw.
A Mass of Resurrection will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Huron. The Rev. Zbigniew Zomerfeld will officiate. Burial will follow in Ruby Cemetery.
Visiting hours are 2-9 p.m. Wednesday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. until the service time Thursday at church. A rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to St. Clair County Mental Health or the Michigan Commission for the Blind.
