Douglas C "Doug" George
Douglas C. “Doug” George, 77, of Canton, Georgia passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, May 26, 2025.
He was born February 28, 1948 in Port Huron to John C. George and the late Donna R. Meyers.
Doug honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1968 - 1972 and was a Vietnam veteran. He was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Bronze Star, 2 Overseas Bars and a Sharpshooter Badge. He later worked as a successful executive in the wire and cable industry. Doug was a hard worker, devoted family man, and had a quiet strength. In his spare time, he enjoyed the outdoors, golfing, going for walks, and reading. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Doug is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ruth Ann (Weis) George; his daughter, Emily (Joe) Lyons; his son, Eric George; brother Dale (Toni) George; two step-sisters, Cathy (Charlie) Riffenburg and Gina (Steve) McDowell; his father John C. George and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 4, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Dr. Joseph Baunoch will officiate.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Port Huron. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
