Patricia Pearson

Patricia Pearson, 77, of Fort Gratiot, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle against cancer on May 28, 2025. She was a loving, caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

She grew up in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from Waite High School and the University of Toledo, earning both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree. Patricia then began a teaching career that spanned over 40 years at both the Genesee and Sanilac Career Centers and eventually at the collegiate level. She was passionate about education and about training the next generation of teachers and made a lasting impact on each one of her students.

Patricia had a profound impact on the lives of many with her engaging personality, but none more so than her children and grandchildren. She spent her retirement years enjoying traveling, spending time with her friends and supporting her son and grandchildren's sporting events.

She is survived by her husband of 36 years, Daniel Pearson; son, Brett (Dana) VanDrew; daughter-in-law, Katie VanDrew; brother, Chuck (Corrine) Cassis; grandchildren, Brody and Ryder VanDrew; nephews, Nicholas and Charles Cassis; and step-children, Greg (Robin) Pearson, Nathan (Juliana) Pearson, Angie Pearson and Jeff (Holli) Pearson; step-grandchildren, Jessica, Danielle, Alivia, Makayla, Christian, Eric and Charleston; and special friends, Colleen (Larry) Webb and Jan (Bob) Kirgan. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Olga Cassis; and her beloved son, Ryan VanDrew.

Visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2025 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Downing Cemetery, Deckerville.
