George E Skinner

George E. Skinner, 73, of Port Huron died May 30, 2012 in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.

He was born November 4, 1938 in Port Huron and was a life long resident.

George was a graduate of St. Stephen High School and the University of Michigan with a bachelor degree in Theology. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict and Vietnam War as a Nuclear Weapons Specialist. He was employed with Chrysler Corporation for 22 years. He was an avid stamp and coin collector.

He is survived by daughters Cinda (Jack) Sheer of Port Huron, Kim (Scott) Bailey Worth Twp.; son, Frank (Peggy) Snay of the Upper Peninsula; special caretakers were his grandson, Kenny “Boy” (Kristy) Zehnder of Port Huron, granddaughter, Kaitlyn Black and grandson, Robby Schwartz both of Worth Twp; her other grandchildren, Tom Emigh of Lubbock, Texas, Tony (Jauquette) Emigh, Karrie (Cecil) Farnsworth and Jack (Amy) Sheer, all of Port Huron, David Black, Jonas Bailey and Emilee Bailey all of Worth Twp.; and several great grandchildren.

George was preceded in death by his parents, George L. and Francis M. (Ottaway) Skinner and two brothers.

Private family services will take place. Burial will be in the Allied Veterans Cemetery. Those wishing to make a memorial in George's name may direct them to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oncology.

Arrangements were made through Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

George's family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital for their excellent care.
