Russell Philip Fretenborough, 82, of Sandusky, died Monday, March 16, 2026.

He was born October 24, 1943 in Port Huron to the late Russell and Rose Fretenborough. He married Linda J. Badgerow on June 22, 1963 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on March 31, 2022 after 58 years of marriage.

Russell served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961-1965. He was employed at Port Huron Paper and SEMCO Energy for many years before his retirement in 2005. From the age of 12, Russell was a ham radio operator. He also enjoyed flying radio-controlled airplanes, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by three children, Deborah (Douglas) Snowden, Donald (Elizabeth) Fretenborough and Karrie (Donald) Lane; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Aria Lane; one brother; and one sister.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 11, 2026 in Holy Redeemer Lutheran Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Reverend Aaron Duve will officiate. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Air Force or the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Stretch Center, Fort Gratiot, with checks being made to Wellness Works.
