Lana J Mayes
Lana Jane Mayes, born on July 10, 1941, to Orville and Helen Allen, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, dedication, and love for her family.
Lana devoted 42 years of her life as a labor and delivery nurse at Port Huron Hospital, where she touched countless lives by helping bring new life into the world. Her kindness, steady presence, and deep care for others made her a beloved colleague and a comfort to many families during life’s most meaningful moments.
Lana had a deep fascination with ancestry and took great joy in tracing her Scottish, English, and French roots. She was an avid doll collector and found happiness in the stories and history behind each piece. She also enjoyed simple pleasures in life-flipping through catalogues, dining out, attending local community events, watching freighters pass by, and relaxing with her favorite shows on HGTV, The History Channel, and BritBox.
She will be remembered for her gentle spirit, her curiosity about the past, and the love she shared so freely with those around her. Lana’s presence will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and all who knew her.
She is survived by her three sons, John (Becky) Mayes, Jeffrey Mayes, and Michael Mayes; her cherished grandchildren, Drew and Lacey Mayes, and Ruby and Maya Mayes; her brother, Larry (Louella) Allen; her niece, Corey (Jon) McCulloch and their children Dylan, Mylan, and Kylie; her nephew, Dustin (Sarah) Allen and their son, Landon; and her lifelong best friend, Kathy Johnson.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
