John Charles Platzer

John Charles Platzer, 90, of Port Huron, died Friday, April 17, 2026.

He was born April 7, 1936 in Port Huron to the late Joseph and Margaret Platzer. He married his sweetheart, Lilly Lou Gilbert on October 30, 1979 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death on March 28, 2023 after 43 years of marriage.

John was employed with Mueller Brass for 42 years while also doing cement work as a side job. He played baseball, was an avid bowler, and was a dedicated fan of the Detroit Tigers and the University of Michigan. He took great pride in maintaining his yard. Above all, his family and his faith was extremely important to him. John was a longtime member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.

He is survived by his niece, Elizabeth (Steve) Markle; nephews, Joseph (Nanette) Platzer and David (Carrie) Platzer; great nieces, Natasha White and Alexandra Platzer; great nephews, Jacob and Nicholas Platzer; and good neighbors, Mike and Jan Cowley. He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Shirley Platzer; and niece, Sheryl Lynn Madej.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Mount Hope Catholic Cemetery.
