Dorothy L Pawlowski
Dorothy Lucille Pawlowski, 93, of Fort Gratiot, died Friday, July 10, 2026.
She was born May 10, 1933 in Grand Rapids to the late John and Julia Borek. She married Michael Pawlowski on January 9, 1954 in Detroit. He preceded her in death on January 25, 2009 after 55 years of marriage.
Dorothy worked at several places in her younger years such as Cobo Arena where she developed a love for Rock music. Her first job was at the Milner Hotel in downtown Detroit. Dorothy also worked at Tiger Stadium with her longtime friend, Mary Pletta. She loved traveling across the country with her husband to visit their son and grandson in California. She enjoyed going to the casino, playing the lottery, crocheting, and watching the jewelry channel.
Dorothy was a die-hard U of M fan, especially when it came to football season. She also loved the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions, and watching Olympic figure skating. Dorothy was very athletic herself playing softball, playing basketball, and throwing a football into her 70’s. She was in the Senior Olympics and won 22 medals in 5 years.
Her faith was very important to her, and she has attended St. Mary Catholic Church since moving to Port Huron in 1986. She was a loving, honest and sweet woman that had a high impact on those around her. You felt her love from miles away and she cared deeply for each person. She found the good in everyone, always rooting for the underdog. She will be remembered by her contagious laugh and the advice she gave to her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters, Julia (Barry) Winfree, Carol Shields, and Christine Kucharski; grandchildren, Ron Pawlowski II and Natalie (Brandon) Bennett; great grandchildren, Angel Pawlowski, Cora Bennett, and Lyla Bennet; and many friends and family. She is preceded in death by her son, Ron Pawlowski; son-in-law, Lee Kucharski; and step-mom, Florence Borek.
