Robert A "Bob" Pearson
Robert Albin “Bob” Pearson, 76, of Fort Gratiot, died Sunday, July 26, 2026.
He was born September 25, 1949 in Highland Park, Michigan to the late Robert E. Pearson M.D. and Margaret Claire Monaco. He married Susan Ronan on June 17, 1989 on the lakeside lawn of her childhood home that they later purchased and rebuilt.
Bob proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant E-5, and served in Vietnam as an 11 Bravo Infantryman. Throughout his life, he enjoyed a diverse career, working as an assistant manager at Boyne Mt. Resort-Computer Systems Coordinator Hotel Information System, then Wilkie Turf Equipment, an Advance Watch Company (with multiple trips to Hong Kong and a trip to Geneva, Switzerland), rural carrier for the U.S. Post Office, immigration inspector with INS, and an officer with U.S. Customs and Border Protection, before retiring in 2020.
Bob had a long and fulfilling association with the Boy Scouts (now named Scouting America). He and his brother, Mike, were awarded Eagle Scout at the same ceremony, with Troop 548 in Redford Township, Michigan. Bob earned a 30-year service pin from the Boy Scouts of America and enjoyed being an active Scoutmaster for Troop 106 in Fort Gratiot.
Bob is survived by his wife of 37 years, Susan; siblings, Michael Pearson, Eric Pearson, Brian Pearson, Carl Monaco, Carolyn Monaco and Kate Pearson; and his godson, Jeremy Pearson. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Stolkey.
A memorial visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026 in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
Private family inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors conducted under the auspices of the U.S. Army and the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
