Laura J Jobbitt

Laura J.”Dicky” Jobbitt, 92, of Kimball, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012 in Blue Water Hospice Home following a short illness.
Laura was born August 23, 1920 in Superior, WI and has lived here since 1946..
She married Richard W. Jobbitt in 1942 in Chicago, IL. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1994.
Laura graduated from Loyola University School of Nursing in Chicago, IL. She was employed for 35 years as a Registered Nurse at Port Huron Hospital where she was an O.B Supervisor and taught several parent expectancy classes. She also worked in the ship yards during W.W. II. Laura was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, St. Anne’s Altar Society and the League of Catholic Women. She was a member of the Hi-Tally Card Club and enjoyed quilting, sewing and swimming.
She is survived by her son, Thomas E. (Sheila) Jobbitt of Lakeport; daughter, Jeannine M. Freedom of Asheville, NC; son, Bruce R. (Joan) Jobbitt of Port Huron; daughter, Renee F. Jobbitt of Port Huron; daughter, Denise J. Gossman of Port Huron; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
Mass of Resurrection will be 11am Wednesday in St. Stephen Catholic Church. The Rev. Frederick A. Bodde will officiate.
Visiting hours are 2-4 and 6-8 pm Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10am Wednesday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7pm Tuesday evening.
Pallbearers will be Tom Jobbitt, Tim Jobbitt, Jeff Pentzien, Nick Jobbitt, Ben Jobbitt and Stephen Gossman. Honorary pallbearers are James Jobbitt and Todd Jobbitt.
Memorials in memory of Laura may be given to the Peoples Clinic, Mid-City Nutrition Center, St. Stephen Catholic Church or Blue Water Hospice
