Wesley Pifer

Wesley Pifer, 81, died peacefully in his home Thursday, October 25th, 2012 surrounded by his family.

He was born August 3rd, 1931 in Port Huron, son of the late Roy & Caroline Pifer.

Wesley married Rita Freiburger on January 29th, 1955 in Port Huron. They were married for 55 years. She preceded him in death on January 5th, 2010.

Wesley retired from the Grand Trunk Western Railroad in 1990 after 42 years. He was an active lifetime member of VFW May O’Brien Post #8465, The Eagles #3702 and The Moose Lodge #158. Wesley served in the U.S Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as vacationing at his second home in Bonita Springs, FL.

Wesley is survived by his sister, Ilene (Don) Perriam; brother, George (Kathy) Pifer; brother-in-law, Robert Archibald; sister-in-law,Pat Pifer; daughters, Mary (Dave) Wilkins, Lori Russell and Cheryl Pifer (Dale, Alicia and Shaine Ingles),Denise (Ronnie) Urban; granddaughters, Nicole Wilkins, Kelly (Lee) Mansfield, Cecilia and Kara Russell, Kyra Urban, Carrie Maggs, as well as several great grandchildren. Wes was also survived by several special nieces and nephews. As well as many other people whom he considered family and his loyal companion Dinka.

Wesley was preceded in death by his twin brother Lesley Pifer, brother Elton Pifer, step mom, Pat Pifer.

Funeral services will be 10am Tuesday, October 30th 2012 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Deacon Dennis Crimmins of Holy Trinity Parish will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors under Auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Visiting hours will be on Monday, October 29th, 2012 from 2-4pm and 6-9pm and 9-10am Tuesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.

Pall Bearers will be David Wilkins, Ron Urban, Dale Ingles, Mike Culter, Shaine Ingles and Chuck Wilcox.

Memorials may be given to VFW May O’Brien Post #8465 or Blue Water Hospice.
