Jesse T Hill

Burtchville—Jesse Tyler Hill, 73, of Burtchville died December 9, 2012 while at home unexpectedly.
He was born March 16, 1939 in Flushing, Michigan to the late Jesse and Cecily Hill. Known as Sam to many of his friends, he worked as a truck driver for many years and before that was a repairman for Monroe Calculators.
Sam was an avid boat racer, twice winning the National High Points Championship in 1966 and 1967 and as a result was inducted as a member into the Gulf Marine Racing Hall of Fame. Sam continued racing until the age of 72 and enjoyed restoring and rebuilding outboard race engines.
He was a good family man and was beloved by his surviving wife, Marilyn; two children, Marrill (Ben) Bennett and David Tyler Hill; grandchildren, Jessica Bennett, Jonathan Bennett and Samuel Bennett; great-grandson Skyler McKelvey and sister, Margaret (Roy) Watters.
Sam was preceded in death by his sister, Candace DuBarton.
Memorial services will be 5pm on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in Lakeport United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 4 pm until the time of service at the church.
Cremation arrangements are by the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
