Julius A. “Zep” Zeplzauer, 89, of Port Huron, died January 6, 2013 in his home.
He was born October 24, 1923 in Port Huron and was a life long resident.
Julius married Margaret Joyce Clift in October of 1947 in St. Stephen Catholic Church. She preceded him in death on October 6, 1982. He then married Ilah M. Skagerberg on February 24, 2000.
He worked for 37 years for the City of Port Huron, retiring as superintendent of Lakeside Cemetery in 1982. He was also an avid sports fan.
Julius is survived by his wife, Ilah M. Zeplzauer of Port Huron; daughter, Christine Lange of Ft. Gratiot; son, Thomas J. (Linda) Zeplzauer of Ypsilanti, MI; son, James R. Zeplzauer of Denton, TX; step-daughter, Kathy Belkiewicz of Port Huron; step-son, Kent (Glenda) Cornette of Atlanta, GA; and grandchildren, Michelle, Natascha, Barry, Eric and Lelea. A
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret McCullum, Julia Gorinac and Mary Blais.
Funeral services will be 11am Wednesday, January 9, 2013 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Joseph Gagnon will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Visiting will be from 9am until the time of service in the funeral home.
