Edward Gossman

Edward F. Gossman, Sr., 81, died in his home Saturday, November 12, 2005. He was born September 22, 1924 in Detroit but was a lifelong resident of the Port Huron area. Ed married the former Patricia M. Armstrong May 17, 1947 in Port Huron. She preceded him in death July 2, 2001. Ed was employed 35 years with Michigan Bell and retired in 1982. He was a member of the Michigan Bell Telephone Pioneers. He also served his country with the Army during W.W. II, seeing action in the European Theater. He spent nine months in a German P.O.W. camp during his enlistment. Ed was a member of Port Huron Chapter #12, D.A.V. and also a parishioner of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He is survived by his sons, Edward F. (Marie), Jr. of Macomb, Patrick J. (Joan) of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michael J. (Linda) and David G. Gossman, both of Port Huron; his daughter, Katherine E. (Joseph) Young of Yale; son, Richard T. (Mary) Gossman of Farmington; and his daughters, Marilyn L. (Dennis) Dwyer of Port Huron and Jeanne Mary (John) Puskar of Troy; 22 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nancy Farmer of Ormond Beach, FL and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in St. Stephen Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher, Pastor will preside. Pallbearers will be Ed's five sons and a very special cousin, Jack Dennis. Military Rites will be under direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Visiting hours are 2 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Memorials in Ed's memory may be made to Chapter 12 of the D.A.V. or the Salvation Army.
