Dorothy Richter
April 6th, 1931 to November 13th, 2005
Dorothy M. Richter, 74, of Marysville, entered Eternal Life Sunday November 13, 2005. She was born to Leo and Evelyn Desmarais in Detroit on April 6, 1931. The family moved to Port Huron in 1938 where Dorothy attended area schools and graduated from Port Huron high School in 1950. Dorothy raised her children while working at the former American Tape Co., retiring in 1990 after 32 years of service. She was past president of the North American Benefit Association Club 611 and was active in the National Camper and Hiker Association. After retirement Dorothy volunteered her time to Habitat for Humanity, Mid-City Nutrition Center, the American Red Cross and was a Eucharistic Minister at area hospitals. She is survived by her daughter, Teresa (Tim) O'Donnell of Port Huron, son Paul (Judy) Richter of Clyde; grandchildren, Tim (Karen) O'Donnell of Clyde, Michael (Jessica) O'Donnell of Davenport, IA, Colleen (Steve) Hernandez of Port Huron, Brian and Joseph Richter both of Clyde and her great grandchildren, Evelyn and Madelyn O'Donnell and Isaiah Hernandez. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Steven Richter and her brother, Rev. Rene Desmarais. Mass of the Resurrection will be 9 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber will preside. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Dorothy's grandchildren will be her pallbearers. Visitation will be 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home.
