Albert Sterling

Albert J. Sterling, Sr., 84, died Wednesday, February 8, 2006 in his home after a battle with cancer. He was born December 27, 1921 in St. Clair. He married Margaret Eckert on November 8, 1941 in St. Clair. Albert attended St. Mary's Elementary in St. Clair. He was the designer and fabricator for the first patented U.L. approved gas fireplace for the mobile home industry. Albert was the owner of Sterling Fireplace Shop in Marysville. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He is survived by his wife Margaret E. Sterling of Marysville; son, A. James (Lu) Sterling, Jr. Of Algonac; daughters, Martha (Dick) Sopha of St. Clair and Jan Sterling of Marysville; son, Bob (Cheryl) Sterling of Chesterfield Twp; daughter, Margaret A. Sterling of Marysville; son John Sterling of Ft. Gratiot; grandchildren, Jim (Emily) Sopha, Julia (Timm) Balunis, David Sopha, Jennifer (Mark) McDonald , Amanda Shurkey, John, Emily and Abby Sterling; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Josiah, Jacob, Jonas and Alexzander; brother, Lambert Sterling of Florida. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Emily; brothers, Harvey and Bud; sisters, Mary and Betty; granddaughter, Kimberly and sister-in-law, Peggy. Funeral Mass will be 10 a.m. Monday in St. Christopher Church. The Rev. Arthur R. Baranowski will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Visiting hour are 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9 a.m. until the service time Monday at church. A rosary will be recited 3:30 p.m. Sunday.
