Mary 'Jean' Cook
December 25th, 1924 to February 24th, 2006
Mary "Jean" Cook, 81, of Port Huron, died Friday, February 24, 2006 in Mercy Hospital. She was born in Port Huron on Christmas Day 1924, daughter of the late Henry and Marie Socha and was a life long area resident. She married Robert C. Cook on June 6, 1953. He preceded her in death on January 31, 2005. After graduating from St. Stephen High School, Jean went on to pursue a nursing degree from Mercy College in Detroit. She was employed throughout her life as a registered nurse. She worked at Marwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for over 30 years. During her employment she was named Director of Nursing. She officially retired when she reached the ripe age of 81 in December of 2005. She was a member of the Marwood Manor Auxiliary. Jean is survived by daughters, Mary (Jeff) Ronan, Patricia Kramer, Kristine Williams and Lisa (John) Lee all of Port Huron; Sons, Robert (Carol) Cook, Jr., of Kenockee, Timothy (Kathy) Cook of East Cina, and John (Jody) Cook of Port Huron. She has 24 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and also leaves to mourn special friends, Marge Akerley and Hurlie Hopkins. She will also be missed by her special pet, Bailey Ann. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Marie Socha and her brother Henry "Bud" Socha. Memorial services will be held at 11 am Tuesday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber will officiate. Inurnment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held 10 am to 11 am Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Marwood Manor's We Care Club.
