Mary Jane White

Mary Jane White, 80, died Tuesday March 21, 2006 in Evangelical Home following a short illness. She was born on September 1, 1925 in Port Huron to the late Elmer & Elizabeth Parent. Mary Jane married George Harold White, Jr. On July 21, 1945. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1963. She was a 1943 graduate of Port Huron High School. As a young girl she walked across the Blue Water Bridge and in 1997 when the second bridge was completed she was able to ride across it in her wheelchair. Mary Jane was a devoted wife and mother. She was very popular and active sixteen year resident of Evangelical Nursing Home. Her years spent there were a life of service and involvement. Mary Jane is survived by her son, Robert (Lynda)White of Metamora; daughter Debbie (Joe) McKenna of Penn Valley, CA; sister, Wilma Pickelhaupt of Port Huron; 6 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband George, brothers, Tom and Stewart Parent and her nephew Stewart Parent, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. Her son Robert and The Rev. Thomas Blount, Pastor of North Goodland Baptist Church, Imlay City will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 5 and 6 to 9 p.m. today in the funeral home. Memorial contributions in memory of Mary Jane are requested to the St. Clair County Humane Society.
