Shirley Maxwell

Shirley Ann Maxwell, 80 of Fort Gratiot, died Thursday April 27, 2006. She was born on August 29, 1925 in St. Clair to the late Dennis & Rosalie Stockwell. She married Richard P. Maxwell Sr on June 30, 1956 in Marine City. He preceded her in death on October 27, 1999. Shirley graduated from Holy Cross High School. Shirley was a postulant of Sister, Servants Immaculate Heart of Mary, Monroe and she attended St. Francis Nursing School. She was employed at Herman Kiefer, Detroit; Mt. Carmel, Detroit and Cambridge West in Redford. Shirley is survived by her children, Catherine (Sanford) Hadley of Marine City; Margaret (Paul) Wren of Brentwood, CA; Richard (Mary Lou) Maxwell, Jr of Walled Lake; Douglas (Lisa) Maxwell of Marine City and Timothy (Martha) Maxwell of Fort Gratiot. Fifteen grandchildren also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and other siblings. Funeral services will be held 10a.m. Monday in St. Mary Catholic Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber will officiate. Visitation is 2 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Monday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Sunday. Memorials in Shirley's memory may be given to the I.H.M. Mother House, Monroe.
