Carol Smith

Carol Barbara Smith passed away peacefully on April 22, 2006, at Northlake Regional Medical Center in Tucker, Georgia with her family at her bedside. Carol was born July 25, 1927 in Pontiac, Michigan. She was the youngest child of Barbara Kathleen and George Mosure. She was raised in Port Huron along with her four siblings who preceded her in death; Mary Madeline Edwards, Stewart Mosure, Chester Mosure and George Mosure. On December 15, 1946, Carol married Gerald R. Smith in Port Huron where they lived until 1994. Upon Jerry's retirement the couple moved to Lilburn, Georgia, although Port Huron was always Carol's first-love and she considered it "home." She deeply loved her family, her puzzles, crocheting and figurine collecting. Her husband Jerry was totally devoted to her and they enjoyed a wonderful long life together. Carol is survived by her husband of 59 years. Children include one daughter; Ceci Gallagher (Robert) of Tucker, Georgia; sons Stewart (Carmela) of Redondo Beach, California, S.M. Smith of Temple, Georgia, and Shawn (Lee) of Fort Gratiot, Michigan; Grandchildren; Brandi R.Vanderhoff (Tim) of Loganville, Georgia, Amber Gallagher of Augusta, Georgia, Coastie Lee Smith of Port Huron, Michigan, and Keenan Smith of Fort Gratiot, Michigan. Carol is also survived by her beloved Sheltie, Coco. A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 15th, 2006 at 12:00 p.m. in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home 1720 Elk St, Port Huron. The Rev. Joseph M. Esper, Pastor of St. Edward On-The-Lake Catholic Church will officiate. Visitation will be 11 am until service time Saturday. A luncheon, celebrating Carol's life, at the home of Cheryl and Bill Rogers, 402 Independence, Marysville, Mi., will immediately follow the service.
