Mary Mechan

Mary E. Mechan, 73, went to be with the Lord on Friday, January 5, 2007. She was born September 28, 1933 in Cloma, Michigan, daughter of the late Glenn and Helen Pelton and had lived in Port Huron since 1963. Mary married Frederick C. Mechan on May 4, 1963 in St. Joseph Michigan. She was formerly employed at the Times Herald for 12 years. Mary was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and loved to play scrabble. Mary is survived by her husband Frederick C. Mechan of Port Huron; daughter, Tamara A. (John) Cuthbertson of Fort Gratiot; sons, Greg A. (Shannon) Mechan of Grand Rapids and Frederick A. "Rick" Mechan of Port Huron and daughter Mary Rose (Tim) Nave of Canton. Grandchildren, Christine, Rachael and J.R. Cuthbertson and Sarah Mechan. Aunts, Agnes Walter of Cloma, Rosemary Byrnes of Chicago and numerous cousins. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday in St Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation is 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Sunday and Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Tuesday at church. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Monday. Memorials in memory of Mary may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
