Leo Kramp
January 16th, 1919 to February 6th, 2007
Leo "Richard L." Kramp, age 88, of Marysville and Port Huron, died Tuesday, February 6, 2007 in his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born January 16, 1919 in Port Huron and has been a life long area resident. Leo married Ruth C. Whitelock. She preceded him in death on June 5, 1984. His second wife Priscilla E. Swaffield also preceded him in death on August 17, 2001. Leo retired in 1981 as Assistant Postmaster of Port Huron. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1938-1946. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Leo loved playing golf, euchre and will be sadly missed by all. Leo is survived by his children, Donna M. (Larry) Williams of East Tawas; Janice R. Messmer of Port Huron; Dr. Richard W. (Rosemary) Kramp M.D. of North Branch; Stephen F. (K.C.) Kramp of Summerville, SC; Bethany A. (Don) Gaffke of Chesterfield and Gregory B. (Mary) Kramp of Ellicott City, MD as well as 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Lisa, parents Frank and Cecelia Kramp and brothers Irving, Donald and Robert. Funeral services are 10 am Saturday in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph M. Esper will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery with military honors under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Visitation is 2-9 pm Friday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30 am Saturday at the church. Leo's grandsons will serve as his pallbearers.
