Leona Sheppard

Leona M. Sheppard, 87 of Fort Gratiot, died Friday, February 16, 2007 in her home following a short illness. She was born April 17, 1919 in Carsonville and had lived here since 1979. Leona married Joseph O. Sheppard. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1993. Her faith and family were the most important things in her life. Throughout the generations in her family, Leona was a caregiver for all. She really enjoyed traveling. Leona is survived by her son, Joseph N. (Beverly) Sheppard of Lexington; daughters, Joyce A. (Edward) Artman of Lakeport and Donna K. (Gary) Orr of Marysville; 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her daughter Karen Marie. Funeral services are 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Simeon T. Iber, Pastor will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation is 2 to 9 p.m. Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Memorials may be given to Blue Water Hospice.
