Raymond Landschoot

Raymond J. Landschoot Fort Gratiot - Raymond J. Landschoot, 71, died March 17, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. He was born December 25, 1935 to the late Frank and Eva (Dove) Landschoot. Ray married his beloved wife of 46 years Betty Pickelhaupt on August 14, 1959. She preceded him in death on June 17, 2005. Ray served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked at St. Clair Rubber Company for 28 years and retired from Daimler Chrysler in 1999. He was a member of St. Edwards Church for many years. His children attended St. Edward's School. Ray volunteered at the parish in many ways. His children have very fond memories of him making donuts and calling Bingo. He continued to support the school by donating items for raffles. Ray was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, VFW and the American Legion Ray enjoyed traveling to Brimley and Copper Harbor, playing bingo with his many friends and camping. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ray's generosity and willingness to put others ahead of himself was his greatest gift of all. He is survived by his children, Randy Hills (Ginger Hawes), Laura (Brian) Kinsella, Brenda (Bernie) Shafran, Julie Smith, Mollie (Joe) Paterson, Lisa Collinge (Nate Bannister); grandchildren, John, Joel, Jason, Derek, Kevin, Joshua, Michael, Jacob, Cody, Selina, Emily and Logan; great grandchildren, Devon, Daniel, Matthew, Haiden, Isaac and Leah; brother, Richard (Marge) Landschoot; sisters, Helen Hills, Dorothy McFarlane, Ann Lukasek and Lucy Shimmel; sister-in-laws, Leanore, Mary and Alice Landschoot. He is also preceded in death by his son Frank P. Landschoot, and his brothers, Robert , Peter, Harold and Gerald. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Edwards-on-the-Lake Catholic Church. The Rev. Joseph M. Esper will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Military rites will be under the direction of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Pallbearers will be Randy Hills, Derek Kinsella, Jacob Shafran, Michael Smith, Joe Paterson and lifelong friend Bill Parniske Visiting hours are 2-4 & 7-9 Monday and Tuesday at Karrer- Simpson Funeral Home and 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service time at church. Memorials may be made to St. Edward's School.
