Mavis Ackerman
Mavis M. Ackerman, 89, of Port Huron went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 20, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital following a short illness. She was born November 22, 1917 in Tyre, Michigan. Mavis married Douglas G. Ackerman on January 6, 1942 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1987.
She was employed at Mary Maxim for 26 years and was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church. Mavis was a wonderful and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her daughter, Wilanne (William) Kimball of Port Huron; son, Douglas (Charlene) Ackerman of O'Fallon, IL; grandchildren, Brett (Barbara) Kimball, Ryan (Frances) Kimball, Angela (Scott) Allen, Christine Huffines (Peter Dolios) and Douglas Ackerman; great-grandchildren, Bryan, Austin, Julia, Joshua, Jacob, Johanna, Jonathan, Haley, Nicholas and Molly; sister, Lorraine Newcomb of Port Huron; brother, Harold (Mary) Spaetzel of Ubly and brother-in-law, Ronald (Betty) Ackerman of Kansas City, MO. Mavis was preceded in death by her parents William and Mary (Young) Spaetzel; sisters, Joanna Burrows and Wilma Daniels.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in Faith Lutheran Church. The Rev. Timothy M. Eichberger, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visiting hours are 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Pallbearers will be Brett W. Kimball, Ryan C. Kimball, John N. McKenzie, John D. McKenzie, Bruce Christick and Lawrence Keef. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church.
