Catherine 'Katie' Colley

Catherine Marie "Katie" Colley, 78. of Port Huron went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 12, 2007 in Port Huron Hospital surrounded by family, following a long illness. She was born December 4, 1928 in Sarnia, Ontario to Rubina and Ralph Smith and resided most of her life in Port Huron. She graduated from St. Stephen's High School. Catherine married Floyd Orin "Red" Colley on May 3, 1951 in Port Huron. He preceded her in death on October 8, 1984. She was employed with McDonald's Restaurants for over 34 years and enjoyed spending time with her dining room pals. She was a care giver for family and friends for many years and offered smiles and laughs to everyone she met. She loved sitting by the St. Clair River and was proud of living in "Old Town" Port Huron. Her family was her heart but her outgoing, disarmingly friendly nature drew to her legions of friends. Katie is survived by her daughter, Mary E. (Ron) Myers of Bradenton, FL; son, Pete M. (Deb) Colley of Port Huron; daughter, Georgi A. (Jerry) Kooiker of Port Huron; son Doug A. Colley of Port Huron; grandchildren, Linda Villerot, Ronald Jr and Michael Myers, Jessica Colley, Jamie and Doug Colley, Jr, Jeremy (Tricia), Melissa and Joshua Kooiker; 6 great-grandchildren and 4 great- great- grandchildren; sister-in-law, Dorothy Smith; cousins; nieces and nephews; many life long friends and loving pets Lucy and Titter-Tat. She was preceded in death by her daughter Patricia Ann Jex and brother Oscar Smith. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald R. Doerzbacher will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visiting for Katie is 2-4 and 7 -9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the funeral home. Her grandchildren will serve as her pallbearers. Memorials may be given to the Ronald McDonald House.
