John Collins

John T. Collins, 61, of Fort Gratiot went to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 23, 2007 in his home following a short illness. He was born April 2, 1946 in Philadelphia, PA and has lived here most of his life. John married Charlene Kay Nichols on June 28, 1980 in Port Huron. He served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. John retired from Mueller Brass Company August 1, 2007. He was an avid Detroit Tiger fan and loved his family very much. John is survived by his wife, Charlene Kay Collins of Fort Gratiot; son, Bob Herriman of Fort Gratiot; daughter, Dawn (Joel) Archibald of Kimball; sons, John (Dawn) Collins, Jr of Port Huron, Scott (Lisa) Herriman of Port Huron and Thomas Collins of Orange Park, FL; 13 grandchildren, 2 brothers, 2 sisters and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Edward T. and Mary T. (McShane) Collins and brother and sister-in-law Edward and Lucy Collins. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Leo Broderick will officiate. Military honors will take place under auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans Council. Visiting hours are 9:00 a.m. until service time on Wednesday.
