Howard H Hellmuth
Howard Harold Hellmuth, 97, of Clyde Township, died Saturday, April 1, 2017.
He was born March 3, 1920, in Cincinnati, Ohio. He married Wilma June Hynes on September 12, 1948, in Bowling Green, Ohio. She
preceded him in death on March 15, 2016.
Mr. Hellmuth was a graduate of Bay City High School and served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was a dealer for American Motors and a regional placement manager for Chrysler and General Motors. He was employed as the used car manager at Cawood Auto and later opened his own dealership, Howard Hellmuth Auto Sales in Fort Gratiot. He also worked several years for Don Foss' company, Credit Acceptance Corporation.
He spend much of his free time at the family's cottage at Presque Isle on Grand Lake. He loved fishing and hunting. He was fond of reading, especially poetry.
He is survived by his children, Bart (Cathy) Hellmuth, Bruce (Bette) Hellmuth, Ron Hellmuth and Becky Gregg; daughter-in-law, Karin
Hellmuth; eight grandchildren, Bart, Erik, Angela, Kirt, Chad, Christopher, Wesley and Jennifer; and ten great-grandchildren, William, Charles, Joshua, Juniper, Jordon, Tyler, Howard, Aubrey, Kendall and Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his son, Keith Hellmuth in 2014, his son-in-law, Mark Gregg in 2009 and his grandson, Jason Hellmuth in 1980.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 12-1 p.m. Thursday at the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home Port Huron.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home, Port Huron. The Pastor Mark Huff will officiate.
Burial will be in Kinney Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church Port Huron.
