James L. Horton

June 5th, 1926 to September 1st, 2010

James Leo (Lee) Horton

He was adopted by Alvena and John Horton, attended Port Huron Public Schools, and graduated from Port Huron High School. Jim joined the Army and served as a Medic in World War II. He married E. Dolores Roberts on February 14, 1953. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2005.

Jim was a long-term member of Union Labor Local 1075 and worked in construction for many years. He took great pride in hard work and is remembered by those who worked with him as never sitting still for a minute. He loved gardening, puttering around, playing cards, and especially spending time with his grandchildren.

Jim is survived by three children, Tony (Janet) Horton, Kim (James) DuVall, and Robin Young, several grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, and his dear companion of two years, Evelyn Deneau. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family that loved him.

At his request, cremation has already taken place. A Holy Mass will take place on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at 10am at St. Josephs Catholic Church. The Reverend Brian Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will be at the Mt. Hope Cemetery following the Mass for the immediate family only.

Because of Jims dear love for little ones, the family requests that memorials be made to Catholic Social Services or to the St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council.

On Jims behalf, the family would like to thank Dr. Anil Patel and the staff at Marwood Nursing and Rehab for their excellent care and to Pastor Max Amstutz for his loving support to Jim and his family during Jims stay at Marwood.
