Angela McLaughlin

October 2nd, 1926 to August 11th, 2011
Angela McLaughlin went to be with the Lord after a long illness on August 11, 2011. She was born October 2, 1926 and was a lifelong resident of Port Huron. She married her sweetheart and love of her life, Ralph S. McLaughlin, January 10, 1948 in Marysville. After 38 wonderful years of marriage, he preceded her in death on November 11, 1986. Their fruitful marriage produced seven children, but Linda and Tommy died as toddlers, and son Steven died of cancer on September 15, 2000. Also preceding her in death was her parents Eulalio Uresti and Benita Martinez Garcia, brothers Salvador and Rudy Garcia, and sister Theresa Garcia Vance.

Angela is survived by her four remaining children R. Michael (Debbie) McLaughlin of Zephyrhills, FL; J. Dan (LuAnn) McLaughlin of Fort Gratiot; Kathleen McLaughlin (John Kutz) of Merritt Island, FL and Toni (Philip) Moore of Mooresville, NC; grandchildren Gwen Dundas, Alicia (Dave) Fowler, Cassie (Dave) Morden, Shane McLaughlin and Alyssa (Robby) Thomas; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her sister Anna Maria Rodriguez; brothers Arthuro Garcia, Henry Garcia, Alfred Estrada and Mario Estrada and a host of loving sisters and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Angela was a resident for the last twelve years at North Port Village where she had many cherished friends and enjoyed their company playing cards and bingo. She was a member of the Euchre Club and was written about many times in the local newspaper for the most lone hands and tournaments, making her a local celebrity among friends and family. Angela loved to travel and take cruises with the family. She even went to the CMA Awards in Las Vegas, NV expressing her love of country music.

Funeral services will be 10 am Monday, August 15, 2011 in St. Joseph Catholic Church. The Rev. Brian K. Cokonougher will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

Visiting will be 2-4 and 6-9 pm Sunday, August 14, 2011 in the Karrer-Simpson Funeral Home and from 9 am till the time of the service on Monday at the church.

Memorial tributes may be made to Blue Water Hospice or St. Joseph Catholic Church of Port Huron.
